What happened to Cinderella Castle Christmas Dream Lights?

There was truly nothing like the Iconic Walt Disney World Christmas Castle (before the pandemic). The Cinderella Castle Dream Lights brought the magic of Christmas to Main Street USA. It is something that was a staple in many iconic photos, and holiday memories. 2019 was the last year Disney fans saw these dream lights upon Cinderella’s Castle. Now fans want to know, will these iconic lights ever return?

What were the Castle Dream Lights?

Cinderella Castle was decked out in over 200,000 tiny white LED lights. The Cinderella Castle Dream Lights first appeared in 2007 and In 2013, Disney ran a nightly castle show with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the Fairy Godmother that turned on these beautiful LED lights. The show was 8 minutes long for all guests could enjoy - not just those with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Tickets. Although Disney never gave a specific reason WHY these iconic lights have yet to return, we can only assume it’s for one reason, the reason that has dulled the magic of many Disney Parks - Money. 2019 was the last year guests enjoyed these beautiful Disney Christmas castle lights. Since the pandemic, they have not returned. Tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party sell out year after year so guess what? Disney doesn’t NEED to go through the labor and money spent to put these lights back up because they are still selling party tickets.

Will Disney ever bring back the dream lights?

The change at first, seemed to be due to the pandemic but here we are five holiday seasons later with no sign of the dream lights to come. Disney World introduced a new version of the Disney castle Christmas lights - projections. The projections are impressive however nothing will ever compare to the glow of Cinderella’s Castle Dream Lights!
