New Addition to the Universal Express Pass - Jurassic World VelociCoaster

VelociCoaster is now included in Universal Orlando Express Pass.. What Does this Mean?

The Jurassic World VelociCoaster opened on June 10, 2021 and has made a serious impact in the Orlando Coaster Game. Some coaster enthusiasts even argue that it is in the top 5 for the best coasters in the country!

The VelociCoaster is a high-speed dash through the Raptor paddock. You will feel like you are racing alongside the raptors at 70 mph and reaching heights of 155 ft. The VelociCoaster currently runs a standby and single rider queue with the option of a front row line once you get close to the loading station.

In my personal experience and opinion, if I saw the VelociCoaster over 60 minutes, I considered that a busy day at Universal Orlando. Since the ride has a height requirement of 51” (4’3) and may be too intense for some guests…it’s just not a ride for everyone.

Prior to February 20, 2023 there were 3 attractions in all of Universal Orlando that were NOT accepted by the Universal Express Pass: Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Jurassic World VelociCoaster, and Pteranodon Flyers. However, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Jurassic World VelociCoaster were included in Early Park Admission which grants guests access to the park 1 hour before opening to ride the best attractions. I wonder now how this will even further impact the crowds for Early Park Admission at Hagrid’s.

The Universal Express Pass is a ticket or pass that allows guests to skip the regular lines at participating attractions at Universal theme parks, including Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. With the Universal Express Pass, guests can enjoy priority access to select rides, shows, and attractions, which can significantly reduce their wait times.

It's important to note that the Universal Express Pass does not guarantee immediate entry to an attraction, but it does provide a shorter wait time than the regular standby line. My favorite tip to give out is to look into staying at a premier resort because Universal Express will be included in your stay (Hard Rock Hotel, Portofino Bay, or Royal Pacific). It may be cheaper than purchasing tickets, hotel, and express pass all together. Especially if you are visiting with a group of 3 or more, make sure to just price out how much a premier resort would be.

Pricing

Universal Express - Skip the regular lines at most popular rides and attractions once per ride

  • 1-Park: Prices start at $89.99 per person

  • 2-Park: Prices start at $99.99 per person

Universal Express Unlimited Pass - Skip the regular lines at most popular rides and attractions as many times as you want.

  • 1-Park: Prices start at $119.99 per person

  • 2-Parks: Prices start at $129.99 per person

These prices fluctuate GREATLY. It will be rare to see them at the lowest price points especially during school breaks and in the summer.

What do you think of this change? I think it makes the Express Pass way more attractive to guests. I was a fan of Universal Express before but now I am even more!
